Madonna’s not sick, her publicist says. The singer raised eyebrows Friday after she was photographed looking gaunt while leaving the Kabbalah Center in New York. But according to her rep, the 49-year-old is the victim of a bad photograph.”I just think the photographer got a bad shot of her or it was touched up to make her look bad,” Liz Rosenberg told People magazine. “I saw Madonna two days before at her rehearsal and she looked amazing – glowing skin and working really hard on her show.”
The pop star “may look a little thinner than usual,” Rosenberg conceeded, “but she was dancing and singing better than ever and ate a nice healthy meal.”
However, some experts aren’t buying it.
“There should be questions of whether she’s eating enough,” Stacey Shulman, a registered dietician who practices in New York, told the Daily News.
And anxiety could be behind the Material Girl’s rapid weight loss, Shulman says.
“The body’s metabolic rate increases with stress,” she said. “It’s going to take more calories to meet your nutritional demands as opposed to someone who isn’t under a lot of stress.”
Madonna is showing signs of strain following several months of drama in which her marriage – and the marriage of late-night visitor Alex Rodriguez – came under intense scruntiny.
The singer reportedly hosted the Yankees slugger at her Upper West Side apartment on several occasions while converting him to kabbalah, a Jewish mystic sect.
Rodriguez’s wife, Cynthia, filed for divorce after her husband was linked to the seven-time Grammy Award winner, although Madonna and husband Guy Ritchie have denied allegations of an affair.
Professionally, the pop star is under the gun for her upcoming Sticky & Sweet world tour. Madonna fired two of her dancers during a recent rehearsal and her tour manager is threatening to quit over her tantrums, according to Britain’s The Sun newspaper.
“Life with My Sister Madonna,” a vicious tell-all written by the singer’s brother Christopher Ciccone, was also recently released.
Rosenberg denied that stress is a factor in her client’s recent appearance: “She’s working hard rehearsing eight hours a day for her tour.”
But according to Eddy Sanchez, a trainer at the Upper West Side gym Boom Fitness the singer is “overworking.”
“From a fitness point of view, it’s a combination of overtraining and not eating right,” he said. “She looks like she’s a little bit anorexic.”
Despite concerns about the star’s health, Rosenberg says Madonna is “in a great space” now.
According to The Sun:
“She’s down physically and mentally. The situation with Guy is very, very tense. The way the press are going crazy with the A-Rod story, her brother’s book and her physical exhaustion are all taking their toll.”
Who would have guessed that any of the following would make the indestructible Madonna second guess herself?
Good news for us is that she’s been down before. And she always comes back harder and faster and sexier than ever before! We’re in for a treat .. she’s going to have a lot of creative energy to unleash during this tour.
You’re an idiot.
Madonna’s upcoming Sticky and Sweet Tour is set to become one of the hottest tours of the year. Most of the shows have sold out in record time, and the concert is on track to rival her previous outing, 2006’s Confessions Tour, which was the highest grossing tour ever by a female artist.
From PR Newswire:
“The demand for tickets in Paris for Madonna’s scheduled September 20th performance was so staggering that a second and final performance has just been announced for September 21st. The Sticky & Sweet Zurich show at the Military Airfield Dubendorf scheduled for August 30th has just glided past the 70,000 mark as Madonna fans buy tickets in record breaking numbers for that show as well as in Vancouver, where Madonna’s October 30th performance sold 50,000 tickets in a record breaking 29 minutes. In addition, due to instant sellouts in Toronto at Air Canada Centre on October 18th and Montreal at the Bell Centre on October 22nd, second shows in both markets have been added — October 19th in Toronto at the Air Canada Centre and October 23 at Montreal’s Bell Centre. These new sellout performances add to a list of sellouts that already include three sold out Madison Square Garden shows in New York City on October 6, 7 and 11 and sellouts in Boston and Chicago where a second show October 27th at the United Center will go on sale on June 2nd. Additional Madonna shows on sale this weekend include: Los Angeles, San Diego, Houston, Miami, Las Vegas, Denver, Philadelphia, Atlanta and Atlantic City.
The Sticky & Sweet Tour, where Madonna once again joins creative forces with director Jamie King, is expected to surpass her previous sold out Confessions Tour in terms of production, visual enhancement, technology, dancing, singing, costumes and nonstop entertainment. A special stage is being created to showcase Madonna, her band, and a stunning troop of dancers, all of which will give fans a breathtaking never before seen or heard once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
Let’s see how good you look when you turn 50.
She’s been uber healthy for an uber long time and maybe it’s time she put back a few Krispy Kreme donuts and not feel guilty about it. The body changes as we get older .. let her adapt.
She knows what she needs to do. She’s not going to listen to you.
Maybe it’s time we started taking photos of you when you wake up in the morning. Before the shower. Before the make-up. Before the visine. Before the Red Bull. Not pretty … I’m sure. Who looks like the ugly sow now? Mmm.. Hazelnut coffee ..
Didn’t happen and you know it.
A-Rod might have a crush on Madonna but the connection ends there. They’re affiliated because they share the same manager, Guy Oseary. Why do people want to believe that they had a hot steamy durdy affair when they didn’t?
Why in the world would Madonna participate in this book? The media is going “over the borderline” with this story and I expect that anyone with half a brain can see this story for what it is: trash
For the week of 8/9/2008, Give It 2 Me is # 1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart!
Guy Ritchie spoke out for the first time today to deny rumours that his marriage to Madonna is in trouble.
The pair have been under intense scrutiny amid speculation their seven-year partnership is on the rocks.
But the 39-year-old film director announced that as far as he was aware his marriage was ‘fine’ as he joined cast members of his latest film RocknRolla in San Diego.
Rumours of marriage difficulties abounded when Madonna was romantically linked to New York Yankees baseball player Alex Rodriguez – which Madonna fiercely denied.
The 49-year-old has also had to endure hurtful allegations from brother Christopher Ciccone who claims in his tell-all book that she loves her career and herself more than her husband.
However the couple are trying to present a united front and Madonna has agreed to be at her husband’s side for the London premiere of RocknRolla .
Ritchie told People magazine: ‘My marriage is fine as far as I’m aware of.’
He continued: ‘I live vicariously through my wife, so I was once a spy and now I’ve become a tourist, and it’s much more fun to live in London as a tourist than it is as a spy.
‘Someone told me the definition was a spy always looks for the bad stuff, and a tourist always looks for the good stuff. So that makes it easy, being married to an American.’
Ritchie, 39, is now believed to have flown to Los Angeles while Madonna is taking a break in New York as she prepares for her three-month Sticky & Sweet world tour, which starts in next month.
Guy said being married to American Madonna helped him to look at his hometown of London with fresh eyes.
Madonna will feature on the new Timbaland album, the US super-producer has revealed.
The duo hooked-up on her recent comeback record, “Hard Candy”, much of which he produced.
Timbaland is now working on the follow-up to “Shock Value 2″ and says it will feature a host of star acts.
Jay-Z, Beyonce, T.I. and Rihanna are amongst those expected to feature, as he explained in a new interview.
He said: “Right now, I have a song with Madonna that I didn’t put on her album. I saved (it) in case I wanna do one for me.
“Of course I’mma do one with Beyoncé. Of course I’mma do one with Jordin Sparks, Rihanna. It’s a lot of people. I’mma do one with Jonas Brothers.
“I’mma try to have 10 major ones”, confirmed Timbaland, who is also expected to produce the new Jay-Z album.
