Rumour : Madonna to move kids to America

Madonna has won her residency battle with Guy Ritchie and will move their two sons to America, according to a new report.

Rocco, eight, and three-year-old adopted tot David will join sister Lourdes, 12, in New York.

Madonna is understood to have been given temporary permission to remove the two boys from Britain – with the move expected to be made permanent shortly.

A source close to the negotiations told a newspaper: “Everything is going to be resolved in the next couple of weeks.

“Everything is going well. It’s pretty amicable at the moment. Things are progressing.”

Madonna’s spokeswoman refused to comment on her post-divorce plans.

Observations: All decades of Madonna are now the height of fashion

By Carola Long
Friday, 30 January 2009

If you couldn’t spare £160 to see Madonna thrusting her crotch in concert last year, don’t despair. A new exhibition of her film and stage costumes arrives at the Old Truman Brewery in London on 21 February, providing both diehard fans and those who like their culture about as substantial as one of Madge’s macrobiotic meals with another chance to get their fix of the material girl.

Highlights of the month-long exhibition – Simply Madonna, Materials of the Girl (… geddit?) – will include the black satin bustier from the video to “Open Your Heart”, complete with pointy bust and nipple tassels; outfits from the videos to “Music” and “American Pie”, when Madonna was in her pimp-cowboy phase; the wedding dress from the film Evita and the hot pink dress from the “Material Girl” video, which paid tribute to Marilyn Monroe singing “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. The clothing will be displayed alongside photos, film props, magazines, videos and installations to create an atmosphere, “in keeping with the glamour and sense of theatre that the queen of pop has made her trademark,” promises curator Ted Owen.

The timing could hardly be better, as many of this season’s key trends take their inspiration from the signature looks her Madgesty has sported over the years. The pale ripped denim she wore in the Eighties and Nineties? Very Balmain. Those Eighties rag hairbands? They reared their heads at Danielle Scutt and Topshop Unique. Madonna’s beloved crop tops showed up at Chloé and are all over the high street, while bra tops, as seen on her Blonde Ambition tour, were a strong feature of the Prada show. So, while this might not be the most culturally groundbreaking exhibition, it’s certainly the most fashion forward retrospective in town.

Madonna Doesn’t Frighten Justin Timberlake

Which is, of course, a huge lie.

When Justin Timberlake was interviewed by Katie Couric for the CBS All Access Grammy Special, he said that was appropriately humbled by the prospect of working with pop diva Madonna just before the two headed into the recording studio together, but wasn’t scared.

Madge and Timberlake have been nominated for “Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals” for “4 Minutes.” As JT tells it, “[Madonna]‘s short, so I wasn’t afraid at all.”

Quite frankly, that should make you more afraid, good sir. The woman is within biting distance of your genitals. Being scared of her is just good common sense.

Billboard: Madonna Resuming Sticky & Sweet Tour This Summer

snf23bizm1-280_562144a.jpg

Ray Waddell, Nashville

Madonna will crank up her Sticky & Sweet tour again this summer with about 25 more shows in the U.K. and Europe, which will add to the total of what’s already the top-grossing tour ever by a female or solo artist.

The final leg of the tour will start in London at the O2 Arena on July 4. Madonna will also play the Manchester (U.K.) Evening News Arena, with the rest of the dates on the tour being stadiums in European markets she has either never played or hasn’t played in several years, according to tour producer Arthur Fogel, chairman of global music for Live Nation. The complete route and venues will be released tomorrow morning.

Adding another leg to a tour is a highly unusual move for Madonna. “It absolutely has not happened in the four tours I’ve been involved with,” Fogel tells Billboard.com. “There has been talk [of extending] during each one, but it has never come to be. But with this one, she loves the show, she’s had a great time and she’s excited about playing new markets.”

Fogel says the demand is clearly present in these fresh Madonna markets; London is the only repeat market from the 2008 leg. “It’s amazing when you look at the number of markets that she’s never played, including this last run in 2008,” he says. “We went to quite a few markets she has never played or hasn’t been to in 15-plus years. This [extension] is really a continuation of that in the sense of playing new and different markets.”

Madonna has enjoyed remarkable box office growth over her past four tours, raking in $75 million in 2001, $125 million in 2004, $194 million in 2006 and $280 million last year, according to Billboard Boxscore. All of these tours were produced by Fogel and his team, and all included roughly the same number of dates (55-60 shows). Attendance has also remained steady, and ticket prices were the same on the past two tours, Fogel says.

The extension will take Sticky & Sweet to around 80 shows, and boost it well into the top five grossing tours of all time. Despite the more than six-month break, the tour will feature the same production and performers as 2008. “It is a long hiatus, but everybody was excited to continue,” Fogel says. “So we basically worked out the arrangements for all the performers, crew and equipment and we’ll be ready to go.”

The Sticky & Sweet tour was the first under a 10-year multi-rights agreement between Madonna and Live Nation, valued in some reports at about $120 million.

Guy Ritchie’s Dad Talks Smack About Madonna!

Guy Ritchie‘s shit-talking father, John, tells the new issues of In Touch that he’s glad his son is no longer with Madonna, and that the divorce could not have proceeded anymore favorably.

In fact, he even went so far as to say, “The worst thing would be if they reconciled” and is glad that Her Madgesty has “lots of boyfriends” because “she won’t be looking for him.”

We think that John Ritchie sounds a little delusional because, honestly, it will be a cold day in hell when Madonna tries to get back together with Guy.

Fortunately, according to Daddy Ritchie, “There are no big arguments between them. All they discuss is the children” and both parties are content with the custodial arrangement.
