TRACY CHAPMAN ON MADONNA

tracychapman.jpg

“Is it harder for women in the industry in general? ‘Definitely,’ she says. ‘I was trying to make a case for Madonna the other day, saying that she’s to be admired for her longevity in a genre that has mostly been for younger acts. Men are able to sustain a career into their 50s and 60s and still present themselves as sex symbols. With women on the other hand, people say, ‘Why doesn’t she retire?’ It’s just so unfair. So I have to give props to Madonna.”

management should keep an eye on Celine Dion’s latest tour.
Madonna is expected to gross close to 300 million $ from 58 shows
Celine Dion’s Taking Chances around 325 million $ from 131 shows (2 times more shows)
It would be a shame for this tour to not end up as the biggest tour by a female musician or even by a solo musicican as reported, with much less tour dates than Taking Chances Tour.
WHAT MADONNA SHOULD DO IS TO ADD NEXT YEAR EXTRA GLOBAL LEGS FOR THE TOUR, BESIDES THE ALEADY ANNOUNCED EUROPE, NORTH AMERICA AND SOUTH AMERICA, TO MAKE SURE SS TOUR REMAINS THE BIGGEST TOUR EVER BY A FEMALE ARTIST. IT WOULD BE A SHAME TO END UP SECOND TO Taking Chances Tour, ONLY BY SEVERAL MILLION $ IN GROSS, ALTHOUGH HAVING TWICE MUCH LESS TOUR DATES THAN IT. SHE SHOULD JUST ADD UP SOME DATES IN ASIA, AUSTRALIA AND MAYBE AFRICA, ALL WOULD

  • i like tracy chapman very much. i even went to a concert of her this year, in italy. she’s just great.
