This is one of those latin-tinged ballads that Madonna does so well-this time with an electronic twist. This song is very lush and almost hypnotic with its beat and the way she draws you in with her quiet but powerful vocals. Lyrically, she speaks about those intense loves, that unfortunately you know are not going to last or be right for you but that you can’t help being drawn to anyway. I do wish she would stay away from using cliches in her writing (Like a moth to a flame) which though they don’t ruin the song for me, prevent it from being even that much more amazing. I know she can write better more creative lyrics as she proves with many other ROL songs such as Mer Girl. I love so many songs on the ROL album that I don’t always put this one near the top of my list but when it comes on I always am taken in and impressed by it. I think unfortunately it often gets forgotten with so many amazing more attention-grabbing songs around it. Those final whispered vocals as the song starts to fade out are actually one of my favorite parts of the song as Madonna takes the blame for falling for the wrong person. Tragic but beautiful stuff.
