Version 1 is a fairly standard Warner compilation video that was broadcast in Europe to promote the single release of Angel, since an original music video was not produced for the song. Perhaps due to the limited number of original Madonna videos available at the time to use in the compilation, this version fades out after only two and a half minutes.
Version 2 streamed on AOL’s official artist page for Madonna along with her other official music videos during the years that AOL was affiliated with Warner in the 2000′s, and includes the full album version of the song. This version is much less typical in that it uses a variety of dated effects (rather than straight cuts) on an alternate selection of clips from Madonna’s early videos. Even more bizarrely, it includes what appears to be stock footage of a person hang gliding overlapped with clips from the Lucky Star video. Considering the oddity of this version and the fact that it had never surfaced prior to being streamed on AOL, its authenticity as an official video has naturally been questioned by fans. But given the fact that it appeared for many years on Madonna’s official AOL artist page, it is equally logical to assume that the clip’s original source would have been Warner, AOL’s sister company. Whatever the story is behind the mysterious second version seems likely to remain unknown, and it has not re-appeared on any of Madonna’s more recent official streaming channels (YouTube, Madonna.com, etc.).
