This song has such cinematic quality to it and I always thought it would work great in a big dramatic romantic scene. I particularly love her emotional build-up in the bridge and the way the music swells afterwards into the instrumental break-stunning stuff. I was so glad to read Rick Nowels comments and his praise of her songwriting which she so rarely gets any notice or credit for. There are some really beautiful lyrics but as usual it is her delivery that really sells the song. She has a way of making you feel emotion when she sings which is why she is a great ballad singer and why so many fans long for her to release more songs such as this one. If I had to criticize something it would be the lack of a second verse. Repeating the 1st verse again does seem a bit lazy but at least she changes up the melody line for “the spell has been broken” the 2nd time around. Overall though, a gorgeous, vulnerable song that stands the test of time.
