MADGE’S SKY DEAL FOR UK TV

Madonna's Sticky & Sweet tour makes $207m so far

By Will Hurrell

Sky has signed an exclusive deal to broadcast Madonna’s most recent tour: Sticky and Sweet.

The 120-minute Madonna: Sticky and Sweet special was recorded in Buenos Aires in December. It features the singer performing her greatest hits, as well as songs from her latest studio album, Hard Candy.

It will air on Sky 1 and Sky 1 HD on the 4 July, the day Madonna arrives in the UK for her performance at the 02 Arena.

The deal also gives Sky 1 the rights to a special 15-minute, behind-the-scenes film to be broadcast alongside the tour.

It was commissioned by Donna Taberer, commissioning editor, entertainment, Sky 1, 2 and 3 and is a co-production between Globe and JJ Stereo Productions.

The deal was brokered by Julia Stuart, senior acquisitions executive, Sky 1, 2 and 3.

I’m mad that I won’t be able to see it in the U.S. :(

  • madonna’s managment is terrible. it seems like oseary undermines the worth of m’s work by sticking her anywhere. freddy demann would have gone straight to the best networks and gotten the best deals.

I love Madonna so much……BUT!!!!!I don’t think she is being very nice to the Country that gave her, her birthright, the USA. Why did she come back here,if she is to stay over there in europe. The USA made her who she is today, now she treats her fans in the states like a redheaded step-child, it’s her’s but she does not reconize it….so sad she has lost her roots.I know the euro dollar is stronger over there( everything is about the money so sad) she still has a large fan base in the USA,why don’t she nurture those fans……

  • WELL MAYBE THE USA SHOULD START RESPECTING HER AS AN ARTIST AND START PLAYING HER RECORDS ON RADIO, RADIO AND THE USA HAVE SHUN HER OUT!!!!
USA WAKE UP, YOU HAVE LOST THE GREATEST STAR OF THE UNIVERSE
PAY YOUR RESPECTS, AND PERHAPS OUR QUEEN WILL RECONSIDER….

I totally agree with Lucifer. How can Madonna be very nice to the US today??? They hardly play her songs on the radio because they think she’s too old for American music. Plus, they love to bash her because she’s being a sexual predator at the age of 50.

She can be very nice to her US fans, but not to the US as a country. Also, she already gave her US fans a long concert leg last October-November.

in europe we respect her and her work too…

  • I always found the notion that you owe something to the particular bit of land you happened to be popped out onto an odd one… besides, there’s lots of lovely places to live in Europe (if you’re reading this M, there’s a rather nice flat in my building that’s just come on the market).

I don’t think it’s a snub to her US fans if she wants to live someplace else – it’s not as if she took the first plane out of the country screaming “I’ll never set foot in this rather unpleasant country ever again, a decision entirely predicated on the inferior quality of my US fan base in comparison to those delightful people over in Britain!” or anything.

Before MJ died Madonna was calling him a freak. She just wants to make more money, get attention any way she can. I swear to you I always thought I was her biggest fan; but a lot of people know what she is about now even if we were tickled by her at one time. But the truth is chews through other artists like she is coal mining. She attches herself to the flame and energy of others (the living and the dead)like an alien going planet to planet to consume natural resources.

  • Now that Sky are pioneering 3D TV you’d think that a Madonna show would be a great choice for a 3D broadcast.
